Yay! It's Gigi

Sadie has had an interesting last day and a half. Last evening Gigi (my mom) came over to visit, we went and ate dinner and Sadie got to have some good Gigi cuddle time. Later in the evening Sadie started getting really fussy again, I just figured it was gassiness (she is a very gassy baby). She didn't have a fever and it didn't seem like anything was wrong, just fussiness. She got a good amount of sleep last night and woke up this morning in a pretty good mood. We went out about 9:30am for our walk. It was pretty hot/humid outside so we didn't stay out long. When we got back inside Sadie nursed, then started getting fussy again. After that she pretty much spent the rest of the day eating and crying. She finally took a short nap about 3:30 (the pic) then woke up. Adam went in and changed her diaper and noticed a lump in her right pelvic area that is firm and raised up when she cried. I called her pediatrician and they will try to work her in tomorrow. I spoke with one of the P.A.'s (physician's assistant) and she said it could be a hernia or a swollen lymph node. She's eating good and going to the bathroom so the P.A. said it could wait until tomorrow and that I could give her children's tylenol. So, it's 7:30pm now and she's calmed down a bit (Adam is playing with her). Tomorrow we will go to the pediatrician and find out what's going on. The P.A. was reassuring, telling me that since she was eating good and pooping that she should be fine. I'll update everyone tomorrow. Going to go give her a bath and a nice baby massage! Loves to all ya'll.

Happy birthday Bubbe!

So, today was Bubbe's (Adam's mom) birthday. We had a nice dinner with Adam's family, Sadie's Uncles Elliott, Ross and Henry, Stacey (elliott's girlfriend), Carolina (ross's girlfriend), Stacey's dad and of course Bubbe and Grandpa. After dinner we went back to Bubbe and Grandpa's house to have cake and Sadie got to visit with everyone and see Elliott's puppy Wesley and Bubbe's dog Zena. Also, today was the first day I was able to put Sadie's hair into a top not. I bought some velcro bows and they look so cute. We did get to go outside for a bit today since the rain wasn't quite so bad, Sadie enjoyed that and so did I; It was nice to get out of the house and smell the fresh air. Nothing too exciting planned for this week, just the same...hanging out, having sweet, precious time with my baby girl. I am really gonna miss her when I go back to work. Anyhow, I love all ya'll out there, hope everyone is well.

Here somes the sun.

Yay! This morning, Sadie and I finally got to go play outside. We went to a really nice, shady, grassy area next to our apartment and sat on a blanket and played. She really enjoyed feeling the breeze, seeing all the neat stuff outside. I brought a couple of her rattles and a small mirror out with us and she really enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror. After about 30 minutes it got a little too humid and warm, Sadie started getting fussy so we went inside and she got some yummy milk in her tummy! After the success of her first top not last night I decided to try two...it looked SO cute. Her hair is still really thin so the velcro clips don't stay in as well with two top nots, but it still looked cute. When Adam came home this evening Sadie had been fussing for most of the afternoon, so we decided to go out for another walk. She finally fell asleep and we went back to our apartment so I could start dinner but right as it was ready she woke up and has been VERY fussy. I hate when I see her like that; She gets all red and she makes this sad face and a horrible scratchy shrieking cry. I tried different things to calm her but she just kept screaming. Finally I put her in her crib all swaddled and cranked her mobile up and gave her a paci. I ran and ate dinner really quick (she's still screaming the entire time). After I at we decided to try and give her a bath, because she likes the water and it may help her calm down. It helped for a short bit, but as soon as we got her out and started dressing her she started crying again. It's been about 30 minutes and she has finally fallen asleep. I hope that she is feeling okay. All of us have fussy days, that's okay, I just hope that she isn't getting sick or anything (she doesn't have a fever). Anyways, we'll see what tonight and tomorrow bring. Hopefully whatever is making her uncomfortable won't be tomorrow, if I have to see her cry like that for too long I'm gonna cry! Rain rain go away...

Another rainy day in Gainesville, not much to do. We mostly just hung around and played. Late morning the rain eased up a bit and we went to Perkins for brunch and then to Publix for groceries (got some yummy salmon). Other than that things have been pretty mellow today. Adam works until close tonight so it's just the girls! Maybe we'll watch a girly movie and eat some yummies! loves to ya'll

Having fun

So...it's been a while...sorry. We've been busy! Sadie is sleeping less during the day so now we get to play more! With all the rain we've been stuck indoors and haven't been on our daily walk, so I've been introducing Sadie to some of her rattles and other toys.
Last Saturday Sadie got a visit from her Aunt Kiki (my BFF Kristin), Uncle Benny, cousin Ciara and Grandma Julie . She had so much fun with all the attention! Sunday we went to Gigi (my mom) and Granddaddy's (her hubby Tommy) house in Williston and got to see Aunt Laura and Cousin Alexis and also meet new kitty friends Morphius and Little bit! The kitties weren't sure about all the crying!
Well, with all the rain that has been coming down I've also been able to organize our house a little better, which is something I wanted to do before I go back to work. So far I've done mine and Adam's closet and Sadie's closet. Now for the office area! Well, that's all for now. Lot's of loves

Blast from the past!

I found this picture of Adam, my best friend Kristin and I at the Purple Porpoise back in 2000, when Adam and I were roommates. We got a good chuckle out of it!

Fun, exciting Sunday

Well, today was a fun and exciting day for the Shugan family. We went over to my dad and Carrie's house to go through some boxes of my stuff that were in my dad's storage. There were all kinds of funny old pictures and things from my childhood and from high school, it was cool looking back at all that stuff. After we got all hot and dusty going through that stuff we went in the pool and decided to put Sadie in! She finally had her first time in the pool. She just kind of hung out, she didn't cry or anything. After that we hung out and talked and then went out to a nice dinner at steak and pasta works. It was a fun day and it was so neat to let Sadie "swim" for the first time. We didn't stay in very long because I didn't want her to get sunburned or have an accident in the pool. Anyhow, we're all tuckered out! Tomorrow we go to the picture people to have our pictures done. I'm so excited, I hope they turn out well. Loves to all ya'll

Happy one month Sadie!

Happy family! I love my life.

Visiting

Today Mama, Papa and Kat came up from Ocala to visit with Sadie and I. We went to lunch at Ruby Tuesday's and had a really nice time. Sadie got lots of kisses and cuddles! We also made an appointment at "the picture people" in the mall to have some pics of Sadie and a family pic done. I am excited (more for the pics of her). Anyhow, tomorrow will be another fun day with mommy and Sadie. Adam has to close so we get to have him for most of the day (yippie). Adam and I were slackers today so we will have to work out extra hard tomorrow! Maybe we'll get to squeeze some fun in there too! Loves to all ya'll

My mommy present...

Just wanted to show ya'll what my sweet hubby bought me. The Vera Bradley pink elephants diaper bag. Sales from it benefit the breast cancer research fund. I had wanted it when I was pregnant but they are kind of expensive...but...they are retiring this pattern so it was 40% off and he surprised me with it! I love my hubby. loves ya'll

Happy baby

Well, as you can see our little sweet pea is growing into such a cute baby. She is starting to like her swing (she used to scream when we put her in it), she stares at the bear mobile when she's in it, then usually takes a nap. She is also starting to sleep through the night a bit better she has slept through 4-5 hour stretches the past two nights! She had been waking up almost every hour from midnight until about 6 in the morning. I had read some different things to try and I think we are starting to figure out what works for her. Adam and I bought a video camera and are going to start making little videos of her. I am so excited, I can't wait to go back and look at them when she gets bigger. We are also (hopefully) going to make an appointment this week with the "picture people" to have a picture of her made to give to family. My mom bought her a beautiful dress and I don't think she'll fit in it for too much longer, so I want to get her picture made in it soon. Anyhow, Adam continues to work hard everyday and is still taking classes (and getting all A's...little smarty pants!). I am so proud of him, he is such a great guy. Well that's all for now, I'll write again soon. Love to ya'll

another day, more cute baby pics!!

Hair today...

So...I broke down and cut all my hair off today. It's way shorter than what I wanted, but luckily hair grows! hopefully in a few weeks it'll be where I want it. This is not a very flattering look for me but oh well. I was wearing my hair in a pony tail everyday and I wanted to have a style that was easier and cuter. As I said though, hair grows! It does look cute when I put a clip in it. Anyhow, not anything else too exciting happening the past couple of days. Adam and I bid on and won a couple of valances that match Sadie's bedroom set (it is a discontinued pattern) I can't wait to get them in a few days. When we get them up I will post pics of her cute room. Tomorrow Sadie and I are going to a baby shower for Julia (my cousin) and her new baby Keanu. Until then...loves to all ya'll

Hanging with mommy!

So, it's Wednesday night and the peanut and I have had two days alone together. I swear, everyday I fall more in love with her. We have been mostly hanging out at the house, doing laundry, watching movies, going on walks. Adam closes tomorrow so he'll be home during most of the day, then go to work from 6-11:30pm. Sadie is doing a lot better with breastfeeding...if I can just get her to stop falling asleep! I think that she can tell something around the house is different, I don't think she knows her daddy is not around, but yesterday she was a lot more clingy than usual, today was better. I feel like I'm starting to know kinda what she wants, or at least have an idea. She really only fusses when she is gassy or really hungry...or in her car seat. Well...not much more to report right now. Loves to all ya'll out there.

Styling and profiling!

This week has flown by! Sadie got to meet some new people this week. Tuesday night we went to Poppa and Grandma Carrie's house (my dad and his wife) and Sadie got to meet Grandma and Grandpa J (my dad's parents). We had a nice dinner and got to visit and eat blueberry crumb cake (delicious). Yesterday Sadie got to meet her uncle Elliott (Adam's oldest younger brother) and his girlfriend (and hopefully one day aunt) Stacy and their new puppy Wesley. Sadie also got to hang out with her Bubbie (Adam's mom) while Adam and I went and saw a movie. It was nice to sneak away for a little while, but I was very ready to see Sadie by the time we got home. Adam starts back to work the day after tomorrow, Sadie and I will miss him, but I'm sure Adam will appreciate some adult time away from the house. Anyhow, not much more to report, but tomorrow is a new week and Sadie will officially be 3 weeks old! Loves to all ya'll.

Getting bigger everyday!

So, it's been a while since I've written a new blog...I've been busy! Sadie is growing and changing so much every day. It simply amazes me. She is so much more alert now. During the day she practices raising her head up and she is getting great head and neck control for such a little girl. Her umbilical cord stump fell off and she had her first real bath a couple of days ago, she didn't care for it much but mommy gave her a nice massage afterward and she seemed to like that. She has had a few trips to Target and we have discovered she HATES being in her car seat (well only if she's strapped in). She is fine if I put her in her sling I guess because she right against my body and it's comforting. I love being a mommy and just love waking up and seeing her everyday. She definitely has the personality to fit her name (which means princess). When she is ready for something she lets you know loud and clear! Adam goes back to work next week and Sadie and I will miss him very much. I have really treasured this time we've all had together to get our family all started. I have mixed feelings about my returning to work ; I am sad that I won't get to see all her little daily things she does, but it will be nice to have adult interaction again and to be able to come home everyday and see how happy she is to see me. Luckily, though I have a few more weeks before I return and I am SO happy to know that when I do go back Adam's mom will be watching her everyday that we are at work so I know she will be safe and very well taken care of. We are so, so lucky to have our parents so close. It will be interesting to see what will happen when Adam is done with his degree after the first of the year. So...we carry on and watch our baby grow bigger everyday and thank God that we have her in our lives. I feel so blessed in my life and with my wonderful friends and family, a fantastic husband that I love and who loves me back (even through all of my silliness) with all our hearts and now a beautiful, healthy daughter. Check back soon for more updates (I promise they will be more frequent!).Loves to all ya'll.

Baby Sadie

Sadie Rose Shugan
July 7, 2008
7:26 pm
7 lbs 13oz
20 1/4 inches long
This is the most beautiful, sweetest baby ever. Even during pregnancy I never realized I could love someone so much that I just met. The birthing experience was nothing like what I planned...plans change! Right after she came out I said to Adam " You aren't getting any more kids outta here!" but here it is 4 days later and I know I want more one day. Being a mom (so far) has been the best thing I have ever done (well tied with marrying Adam) It feels so good to know that Adam and I made this awesome little person out of love and I got to "grow" her for 9 months and now here she is all squirmy and crying and sweet. More to come...

My husband, Adam

Adam and I met in middle school, he was in the 8th grade, I was in the 7th. At the time we weren't very close friends but we lived in the same neighborhood and we have younger siblings the same age that have been friends. In high school we started hanging out. We had drama and journalism together. In drama we partnered up to do some skits together and after that became good friends and we started eating lunch together with a group of other people (and we were so cool...we sat in front of the library!) Adam graduated in 1998 and I in 1999 and we remained friends after high school, we went out to the clubs together and even became roommates for a short time in 2000. Through all this we both had crushes on each other but thought the other one didn't feel the same. Adam moved to Orlando in late 2000 to go to UCF and I continued school here in Gainesville. Over the next 6 years we sort of fell out of touch, both going on with our own lives. We saw each other a few times over the years, but only briefly. I thought about hims some, wondered what he was up to and hoping he was okay. It had been about 2 years since we had last seen or spoken to one another. It was December of 2006, I was sitting on my couch, watching t.v. and all of a sudden I had a really strong urge to call him. It was very bizarre; I hadn't seen or spoken to him in about 2 years and now I have this crazy feeling like I HAVE to call him. I called the last cell phone number of his that I had and it was the wrong number so I sat there almost in a panic. Then, I remembered that he had written his parent's number in my yearbook back in '98. I found it and called...luckily his mom remembered me and gave me his cell phone number (thank you Irene). I called. After that we started talking and getting to know each other again. Adam was living in Fort Myers hanging out, working, etc. A couple weeks later he decided to come up here to Gainesville to visit his parents and me. During that trip we quickly realized that this was our time (actually for me, the second night we went out I knew I was in love with him). Only problem, he lived 4 hours away. For the next 3 months he came up almost every weekend to see me, we kept growing closer and in March he moved up here...April 16th he asked me to marry him...May 8th we were married and October 15th We found out I was pregnant. Most of you may be wondering why I put this on my blog. I just wanted to put this story out there because until this happened to me I never believed in fate and I had decided that real love was crap and not really out there. Adam is my soul mate (yes extremely cheesy, but very true) he gets me like nobody else. When we are together I am nothing but happy and content. People who know both of us and have since high school would probably agree with me when I say Adam is not the person I ever thought that I would end up with, but I can't imagine what my life would be like without him. He is the most loving, caring, funny, patient, incredible human being and husband and I am thankful everyday for whatever crazy force made me have such a strong need to talk to him again back in 2006. I love him with all my heart and am so excited that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
