Long week
This has been a long week! I am so happy that Adam, Sadie and I have a whole day together. This past Thursday was our Halloween party at work. We had a big haunted house, food, pumpkin patch. It was really cool. All the residents seemed to have a really good time. I was at work late every night this past week, so I haven't had much time with my two sweeties. This week things will be back to normal. Sadie had a good first Halloween. Adam dressed her in her costume that Gigi got for her and brought her to the party. Last night we went to see a Grateful Dead cover band at the band shell. We didn't get to stay for the whole thing, Sadie was getting really fussy. We had a good time though. Anyhow, since it's been pretty chilly this last week, Sadie has been able to get all bundled up. She looks so cute with her little jackets and hats on. I can't believe that October is over. Thanksgiving will be here before you know it. Well, I am sleepy so I'll post a good slide show and go to bed! Go Gators!!

Fun Sunday
Today was a good day. Sadie had trouble getting to sleep last night so she ended up slepping later this morning. Adam got to sleep even later! Anyhow, I made eggs and turkey with cheese for b-fast (yummy!) and opened up the glass doors and enjoyed the cool air. I even got to sit and look at my new Crate and Barrel catalouge! We went to Toys r us and looked at high chairs. We are trying to figure out if we want a regular high chair or the space saver. I think we decided on the space saver. I love the other chair we had origianlly wanted, but we just don't have the room for it. Later after that we went to have lunch at Cabana Cove and I got yummy sweet potato fries. By then it was almost 2pm. Adam had to go to his friend Bobby's house to hang out for his birthday (Bobby's). He was there, but Sadie and I got a visit from Mama, Papa and cousin Kat. Sadie was fussy for the majority og the time they were here (sorry ya'll) but it was still good to see them. When Adam got back we went over to Alfred A. Ring park and had a nice long hike. I had Sadie in the front carrier and she seemed to have a good time. She loves to look at trees and flowers and hear all the sounds in nature. She looks around with her eye big and open. After we got home we made dinner and gave Sadie a bath. She had a tough time getting to sleep again tonight (she keeps waking up crying) but she is sleeping pretty good now. She is still having problems with her tummy. Adam and I thought it may have (in addition to the stuff we've already been working on) to do with her bottles. We have tried the Dr. Browns bottles, the Playtex Vent-Air and the Mam ones. We also have the Playtex drop-in nurser bottles. We had been using the "preformed" liner which don't really collapse as she eats and so she is still getting a lot of air. So, I had a "duh" moment and bought the bag liner instead (they collapse much better as she eats so there is almost no air). We have only used them a couple of times and they seem to do her good, but we'll have to wait and see. I can't imagine that they would be worse! Our annual halloween party that my job throws for the community is this Thursday. I am excited. This year we will have a haunted house and lots of other fun stuff. It's gonna be a busy week getting all the final stuff done. I will definitely post pictures! Gigi got Sadie a cute pink flower costume so we will take pics of that too! Anyhow, I have laundry and dishes to do so...Loves!

Family time!
The last few nights, Sadie has been waking up at 4-4:30am and staying up for an hour or so. We went through this a few weeks ago. I am thinking that she may be going through another growth spurt. She wakes up and eats and wants to play and be cuddles a bit, then goes back to sleep. I guess I just need to go to bed earlier for a while. Tomorrow I'm working, then Thursday Sadie has her surgical follow up with Dr. Bierle. Anyhow, I've had a busy day, so I'm going to take a bath and go to bed! Loves.

Video
Below is a cute video of Sadie. This is the first time she has done this, usually she just sits in the bath and smiles while I wash her. It is amazing how much she has changed (mentally) in the last month. Also, the video looks black at first, I forgot to take the lens cap off for a sec. Pause the music before you play the video. BEWARE...my annoying mommy voice is going on through this video...sorry! Hope ya'll enjoy!

Not much to say
So, I don't really have much to blog about tonight. Sadie has had a full day of gas drops and no dairy in mommy. She already seems to be doing better. She had a bloated tummy of gas this evening and was barely fussy. I rocked her a bit and patted her and put her down to sleep! I just wanted to post this slide show of these pics Adam took earlier today. She is sooo adorable and I had to share them. Loves.

Little Tummy (happy three months Sadie!)
Sadie saw Dr. Fortunato today. She weighs 10 lbs 8 oz. Dr. Fortunato said that her incision sights are healing nicely and she is growing well (although Adam and I both thought her weight would be a small issue). We did speak with her about Sadie's fussiness and her gas problems. Sadie was very distressed while we were there and Dr. Fortunato said she is definitely a colicky baby and gave us some things to try. I have to cut out dairy and spinach (I eat fresh spinach 1-2 times a day!) and we are also supposed to give her some mylicon drops 3-4 times a day. We go back in 2 weeks, to see if those changes have helped. I really hope they will. If things are going better I can try to add dairy and spinach back in. Adam liked Dr. Fortunato and said she was really great with Sadie. Other than her tummy troubles Sadie is doing really well. She is growing and reaching (and exceeding some) the milestones for her age. She loves to be on her tummy so she can look around. She loves to ride in the front carrier on me so she can be in the mix with everyone. She is reaching out for toys and grabbing them and putting them to her mouth. I know that none of these things is really a big deal, but to me they are all so amazing. It's so great to see how far she has come in only 3 months. Adam got a call from Helzberg Diamonds yesterday. They want to interview him for the manager position. He will interview on Thursday, so maybe he'll be able to get a better job while he's working on school.
Adam is such an amazing hubby and daddy. I have to give him snaps for turning out so great and for coming into his own, and becoming such an independent man. He has really grown up a lot since we were younger (duh, right?). I guess in some ways he hasn't had much choice. For whatever the reason, I think he's great. Loves, ya'll.

Sunday at Mama and Papa's
Today was a long day. We started early, 6:30 am, and put some of our stuff out for the yard sale at our community. We tried to make some cash, but only made $10. I sold a pooh bear carrier and Adam sold his old computer speakers. That's okay I guess. We finished up around 11:30 am and drove down to Ocala to see Mama and Papa. Sadie did okay for most of the ride there. She got fussy when we were on I-75 close to the Ocala exit. She cried and gave me the sad face until we got there. She seemed to have a good time getting lots of cuddles and kisses from Mama. Unfortunately Papa was feeling a bit "under the weather" so he got to admire her from afar. Next time Sadie will have to get extra Papa kisses! Sadie's tummy has been bothering her. It seems like every time she eats she gets very bad gas and starts screaming. She'll pull her little legs up to her tummy and squinch her face up and the shoot the out straight as a board and cry. I feel so bad for her. I don't have any other kids so I don't know what is normal, but this doesn't seem normal. Last night and today have been the worst I've seen her. She was "climbing" up my chest. We go to the pediatrician on Tuesday so I am going to ask her about it. Adam was doing some research about gassy babies online and we think she may have lactose overload. She has all of the symptoms and I have milk oversupply, which is the main cause. Basically what it is, is when she is drinking breast milk she is getting too much of the fore milk and not enough hind milk. My body has a strong milk letdown reflex and is causing my milk to be imbalanced, so her tummy gets full from fore milk before she gets the fatty hind milk and that is causing a lactose overload. This causes her to have excessive gas, bloating, watery poos, etc. The really crappy part is that these babies that have this get gas relief from eating again (which is why she farts and poops a lot while she is eating) and causes the same thing to happen, creating a cycle. I was hoping that since she gets a lot of pumped breast milk that it would resolve itself, but, because my milk may be "imbalanced" the same thing happens. We don't know if this is truly what is going on, but it seems like the most likely scenario. I know that babies can be fussy, that's okay. I just (and I'm not the only one) feel like she shouldn't have to have such a hard time eating. Anyhow. We'll ,maybe get some answers on Tuesday. It's 9pm now and I'm going to go watch Family Guy!! Loves to ya!

Sadie is so cute but...

...who does she look like? I say Adam, he says me! both pictures of Adam and I are from when we were 4 months old. Sadie isn't quite that old yet but she definitely is getting a less new, squished baby look. This week seemed to go by really fast. I work tomorrow, but Sunday we are both off. We will be trying to sell some of our stuff at the community yard sale, Sunday, in the afternoon we will be going to Ocala to see Mama and Papa. They just got back from a long trip to Europe (I am sooo jealous!) I hope that when Adam and I reach our 5 year anniversary we can go somewhere nice and romantic together. We didn't have much of a wedding and no honeymoon, so I'd really like to have a belated one! Maybe on a cruise or to a Sandals resort or even Italy (yeah right!). We'll have to wait until Sadie gets a bit older. I told Adam that when Sadie gets to be 3 or 4 I really want to go on a Disney cruise. I've heard really fantastic things about them. It seems like so much fun. I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise a few years ago and it was a lot of fun. Anyhow...I am rambling. Tuesday is Sadie's surgical follow up with her new pediatrician, Dr. Fortunato. Adam has to work and can't be there. I really hope that everything goes well with this new pediatrician. I feel so weird about switching doctors, but I guess I'd rather Sadie have a good Dr. taking care of her. Adam applied for a job at Shands at AGH, send him good, yummy love so he'll hopefully get this job and we'll be in a better place. I think it'd make him feel a lot better about himself too. I just love him so, so much. Today when I came home from work for lunch, Sadie was napping and Adam and I were just sitting talking ad I asked him what he had been doing with her today. He said they had gone on a walk, he read to her, all the normal stuff. Then he said that he made sock puppets named Emily and Todd and was doing a sock puppet show for her while she was siting in her bumbo. I almost started crying. That is why Adam is my husband and why I continually fall more and more in love with him. He is such a wonderful, kind hearted man. I am so very lucky to have him in my life and as my husband and the father of our child. Again...I ramble. So...who does she look like?Tuesday, September 30, 2008
Tuesday afternoon
Sadie is napping right now and I am, well was, picking up the house, doing laundry and updating my blog. Adam is at work, he should be home in about an hour. So far a slow day. The last week or so Sadie has been getting up at 6:30 to eat. I think that's a good sign, she has been eating much more than she was before the surgery. I don't know if it's because she is more comfortable or because she is just at a growth spurt. Whatever the reason, I am happy that she is eating good and growing bi! Today Sadie has bee having tummy time and practicing holding her head up. She is getting to be such a strong girl. She has a follow up with her new pediatrician next Tuesday. I am anxious to see how much she weighs now and how long she is!
I have been changing Sadie's room a bit to be a bit more fun (and pink!). I got these cool daisy lights from Ikea. I still have some more stuff to do,not a lot, but I'm trying to do it piece by piece so I can get cute, fun stuff.
Adm and I are both doing well. Adam found out he won't be done with school in February like we expected him to be, so that changes things a bit. Lately I have been thinking a lot about our path and what we are supposed to be doing. We keep pushing so hard for what we "want" (Adam to have a better ob while we're in school, to be able to be saving to buy a house...) and we aren't getting anywhere. We talked about it and we're just going to wait and see where we're supposed to go and what we're supposed to do and hope that we're going to end up in a good place in the end. My dad says that everyone has to "work hard and pay their dues" and I know that's true, but sometimes it just feels like things will never fall into place. We try to remind each other how much we have to be thankful for and that we just need to remember all we have and that things will happen the way they are supposed to and we should be open and willing to learn the lessons we are being taught right now. Anyhow...Sadie is up, so I'm going to go play! Loves.

Adam's Bday
Yesterday was Adam's birthday, he had to work, but later we went to his parents' house and had a bbq to celebrate. Yesterday was also Adam's youngest brother Henry's birthday also, so there was lots to celebrate. It was really nice to visit and have cake with everyone. Sadie had a good time being passed around. We have a nice big hunk of leftover chocolate cake now!! Adam got lots of gifts and said he had a great time.
Sadie didn't get a good nap yesterday so she was a little fussy, but that's okay, I get fussy when I'm tired too! She took a shot nap during the bbq and went to bed a bit later than usual. Car rides have been better. Bubbe got us a mirror that has pictures and lights and music on it and Sadie really seems to enjoy it. I turn it on when we're in the car and she kicks her legs and giggles. Hopefully it will help so we can finally travel without having her scream the whole time!
Today I traveled to Orlando for a work event, it was fun. We bowled and sat through an awards ceremony. didn't bowl very well, but who cares! Anyhow. I'm off again tomorrow so I get to be with my monkey all day! Gigi will be coming over later tomorrow, so that will be nice to visit. Loves...

Ups and downs
Today Sadie got to meet her Uncle Dave (adam's good friend). He was driving from North Carolina, down to Fort Myers for a wedding this weekend and he is staying with us tomight. Dave and Adam met when Adam was going to school in Orlando at UCF. They (along with Dave's girlfriend at the time and another couple) lived together. Dave came down here last year about the same time for Adam's birthday (about the same time I got pregnant!) so I think it was neat for him to see Sadie. We went out for a nice dinner at Nappy's and Adam and Dave went out to Stubbie's for beers.
Last night was a rough night. Sadie was up quite a bit. She would wake up screaming, I would go into her room, pick her up and she would quickly fall back asleep. I tried feeding her a couple of times but she'd just go back to sleep. She did this about 6 or 7 times last night. I really hope that she is okay. I can't see anything wrong with her. She doesn't have a fever, her incisions look fine...I dunno what else to do. I did give her tylonol the second time she got up last night, but that didn't seem to make any difference. Today has been okay, Sadie has been pretty fussy. We had to run some errands and I really hated taking her out, I'm sure that it doesn't feel good for her to sit in that position. Plus, it's so hot outside. Anyhow, I am hoping that Sadie will have a better night tonight. As for me, I'm going to bed early...let's just hope the guys will be quiet when they get home! loves...

New normal
Yesterday was my first day back to work. It was nice to be back with the girls. I cried a little in the morning when Irene came to get Sadie, but I just kept trying to remember how lucky we are to have her watching Sadie so Sadie doesn't have to go to daycare. Then I felt better. Today Adam works 6-close, so h was home with Sadie for most of the day. Irene came over at 5and watched her until I got home. We played for a bit, I read her a story, gave her a massage and nursed her.Now she's sleeping! Working definitely makes me appreciate my time with my family even more. I feel like this is the beginning of our new "normal", getting on a new routine now that Sadie is here and I'm back to work. It definitely is taking some getting used to. I'll be working again tomorrow and Adam will be home until 3:30 then he goes to work. It is getting close to halloween and we, at work, have started discussing our annual community halloween party. I am really excited, we are going to do a scary party this year. It should be fun! Anyhow, I am going to go check on Sadie. I love to just look at her. I love her so much. Loves ya'll

Good day. Bad day
Well, the last couple of days have gone by so fast, it seems like from the time we get up to the time I lay down we're busy! Lets' see...I ended up buying a jogger from someone off of craig's list. They were asking $40 for it, so I emailed her and she emailed back quickly and said if we pick it up that day she'd sell it for $20!! I was a bit apprehensive, I mean $20, how bad is it? Turns out it isn't that bad. It had been sitting in their carport for quite a while so we had to take it to Adam's parents' house and spray it down with the hose and scrub it with laundry detergent (it smells better!). It works surprisingly well! We took it out for the first time today and it rode nicely on the rocky pavement and grass and Sadie seemed to like it. I am going to make a cover for the padding that I can take off and wash. Today Sadie had an appointment with her pediatrician. She got 3 shots and it was awful, she wailed and wailed and later, after she had finally fallen asleep she kept startling herself awake and then start to cry again. Sadie is now 9lbs 9oz! 22 1/2 inches long. She is in the 33 percentile for her head size, 38 percentile for her height and 19 percentile for her weight, so she's a little girl, but the doc said she is growing fine. We also found out today that Sadie has a heart murmur. These aren't uncommon in babies and it's not necessarily something we really need to worry about just yet, however, it may be a bit of a concern when the surgery comes due to the fact that she will be placed under general anesthesia. I spoke with the surgeon's nurse and she said Dr. Beierle said that she should be fine but she'll have a cardiologist check Sadie before her surgery. Sadie breaks my heart when she cries out in pain. I just want to take it away for her. I hope that the recovery time for her surgery won't be too bad or painful for her. Only time will tell. I'm starting back to work tomorrow, it is bittersweet. I am happy to be going back to a great job with great people (mostly-lol) and it's always good to be making money! However, I am feeling some separation anxiety and am going to miss all her little cute daily "Sadie-isms" that she does. I hope she won't forget her momma! Loves ya'll!

Time to see the surgeon
Today we met with the pediatric surgeon, Dr. Beierle, she was very good and sweet with Sadie and seemed to immediately agree that these were hernias. The surgery is scheduled for Monday September 15th. We will go to Shands at 7am and she will be put under general anesthesia shortly after. It should be a fairly quick surgery,1-2 hours and she will stay in the peds wing overnight. I am glad that we will be able to have this fixed for her. Hopefully it will make her feel better. After meeting with the surgeon we went upstairs to the urology clinic and saw my mom (Gigi) and some of her co-workers. Everyone thought our Sadie was adorable and especially loved her hair! Late we went to Bubbe's house and saw the new stroller Bubbe bought to push Sadie around in, when she's over there everyday. It was very similar to our but it had a couple of really neat features that ours doesn't have. I told Adam I was jealous! Sadie is asleep now and she looks so peaceful, I hope she gets a good nights rest. Tomorrow, if she feels good, we'll play with her new swing. We picked it up today and she only got to check it out for a short bit. She seems to like the lights and hanging toys! More fun tomorrow. Loves ya'll

Waiting...
So we will finally be seeing the pediatric surgeon tomorrow at 1 pm! Sadie has been fussing so much the past few days. I was thinking it's because of the hernias but I don't know...I hope so. I guess we'll find out once they get fixed. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm not a very good mother. My child is so upset, to the point where she is doing that sad quiet, red faced crying and I can't always make her feel better. To make matters worse, now she has tears (babies don't get actual tears until about 2 months old) so it makes me want to cry too! Sometimes the bouncy seat helps (thank goodness for fisher price!) she gets distracted by the vibrations, fish and sounds but there are times when she is inconsolable. I just hold her and sing to her and rub her head. It really doesn't bother me in the sense that the crying is irritating, I just can't stand to see my child in that much pain, or uncomfortableness or whatever she is feeling. I plan to talk to the surgeon about that tomorrow maybe she can provide some answers. On the positive side we are so blessed to have such a great family (and so close) and each other and this wonderful, beautiful, daughter that has brightened our lives. Also, we are selling out Graco Winnie the Pooh swing, Sadie gets bored in it and needs more stimulation. I am getting (tomorrow morning) a "deluxe travel swing" from fisher price that is similar to her bouncer. It has lights and music and is interactive and she can kick and pull stuff and make the lights come on and stuff. I think she'll like that (I hope). I found it on Craig's list for a great price and the woman had only bought it for her daughter to put her stuffed animals in it (expensive swing for toys!) so it's basically never been used! I'll put pics up tomorrow! Until then...loves ya'll!

Little tummies!
Well, Sadie's having more troubles with her tummy/pelvis... I got her in to see the pediatrician on Thursday, the lump on her pelvis had gone back down. The P.A. gave her quick exam and said she couldn't feel anything. She then brought the doctor in and he said he couldn't either but if the lump popped up again to take a picture and bring it in. I didn't really feel better about the situation, but the doctor made is seem like it wasn't a big deal. So later that day Sadie is pretty fussy again so I gave her some tylenol (the doc said to for any discomfort) and she settles down and went to sleep. Friday morning (about 7:30 am) we were changing her diaper and the lump was there again and bigger. We took a pic of it and when the doc's office opened we went over there to show the pic. Th P.A. looked at the pic (didn't do an exam) and said she would have us referred to a peds surgeon. She gave us no other instruction. Again, as the day wore on Sadie became more and more fussy and seemingly uncomfortable. I ended up calling my mom for advice and when she got off work she came over and called the peds surgeon on call to see if we should do anything besides wait. The surgeon was very surprised an exam wasn't done and that the P.A. and doc treated the situation so non-aggressively. She told us that inguinal hernias can be very dangerous and said that we should get her examined at the peds after hours clinic to make sure that if it is a hernia, it's not strangulated (she also suggested we get a new pediatrician), which would mean blood flow was being cut off to part of her intestines. Mom and I took her to the peds after hours clinic (poor Adam was at work during all this). She was finally seen by Dr. Fortunato who thoroughly examined her and said it was indeed a hernia, it is not strangulated but we need to get her to a peds surgeon ASAP. I told her our peds office was supposed to make the appointment ans she told me if I hadn't head anything by this Tuesday or if they couldn't get us in this week to call her office and she would make sure Sadie is seen Thursday (the only surgery clinic day). So now we just wait. In the meantime if the hernia comes out and we can't work it back in (Dr. Fortunato showed me how to do it) we need to get her to the E.R. ASAP. For now, though, Sadie is calm and being as cute as always. We're just trying to take it easy so she can't rest and not get too worked up (it makes the hernia pop out more). Sadie and I got a visit from our friends Sara and Renee (my Legacy beauties) this evening and Mama and Papa are coming up for a visit tomorrow, so they can see Sadie before they leave for Europe for 3 weeks! Anyhow I'll keep everyone posted. I have to say though, I am really grateful that this will be an easy thing to fix and she's good and healthy otherwise. We are truly blessed. loves to all ya'll
Bath time!
Sunday was a good day. Sadie got a visit from her Mama and Papa (which included lots of kisses and cuddles!). Later she got a visit from her Gigi and her Granddaddy (more kisses and cuddles). She got pretty fussy in the evening so we went for a nice walk, which seemed to calm her down, then Sadie got a bath! She loves getting a bath until it's time to get out. When I was putting lotion on her and getting her ready for bed, after her bath, I noticed a lump on the other side of her pelvis. I palpated it and it eels like the hernia on the right side. I was able to reduce it (push it back in) but that means she has 2 hernias and not just one. I had read on a few websites, though, that that occasionally happens. A child will have one hernia fixed on one side, then a little while later another one on the other side pops up, so, I'm glad we saw it now and they can be fixed at the same time. Anyhow, I have a doctors appointment tomorrow (yuck!) and then Sadie is supposed to have hers Thursday, but I will talk to her pediatrician tomorrow. Hope everyone has a happy and safe labor day! Loves to all ya'll!
