Alligators are scary!

So, Adam and I were both off today and it wasn't supposed to rain until late today. We decided to go check out the La Chua trail. It goes out on to the prairie and there is an overlook you can go up on. Henry came with us and we started out. It was great...hot and humid but fun. On the way there we saw tons of gators from a fairly safe distance. We get to the look out, hang out for a bit and head back. We get to the end of the trail part and almost up to where it is a board walk and there is HUGE gator sitting in the path. Now, keep in mind I have Sadie strapped to my back. We were probably 20-30 feet from the gator just standing there trying to figure out what to do. He didn't look like he'd be moving for a while and we couldn't just stay there forever. Adam starts to go closer, to go around it and it moves to the side of the trail closer to the water. He stopped for a second and as he was about to start going around it another gator comes walking up on the other side!!! So now we're standing there 20 or so feet from 2 big gators and I'm VERY nervous. All I'm thinking is 'get Sadie out of here safely'. So we standing there discussing what to do (there was a ranger back at the look out about a mile away). Do we go get the ranger, or just wait it out. So about the time we're talking the second gator walks past the first gator and goes in the water. At that point I was talking to my dad and he said (and Adam agreed) that gators can't run far or fast on land so try and go around him quickly and quietly. So we did. We walked right past it. We were about 5 feet away from a 10-15 foot 200+ gator! He just looked at us as we passed. It was so freaky. After all that we made it back to the car safe. The funny part is that there were a bunch of people out there on the trail so I am surprised that the gators came up like that. Yikes! After that we met Adam's mom at Too Jays for lunch. It was so yummy. We ran a couple of errands and have been hanging out. Sadie is in bed now. She was great today. She got a little fussy on the hike but it was super humid and hot and although the sun was in her eyes, she kept pulling her hat off. Once we got in the a/c she was fine. Well, I am tired, no work tomorrow but lots of chores! Hopefully I won't have any gator nightmares!! Loves.

Today's Kabbalah:

All the negative actions and all the positive actions in the world are feathers on a cosmic scale. When we're dealing with such a level of precise measure we can begin to understand the impact we can have on the world. One positive action can tip the scales, as can one negative one. This is something we hear all the time and it's not easy to live because, hey, we just don't see. If we did, then we would all live with consciousness and human dignity.Today, let this thought penetrate your mind: Each and every one of us can make a huge difference. The more we're aware of this, the more we'll believe that the consciousness of every word we say, and everything we do, can and does make a difference in the world.

Thursday pics

My Dad came over on Thursday. He and Carrie are going to the keys for 2 weeks and he hadn't seen Sadie in a couple of weeks so he came by on his way back to Shands to say hi! It worked our perfect. I was off and Sadie and I were just hanging! I would have more pics but the batteries in our camera died and we don't have new ones! I worked today and Adam is at work right now. I am just enjoying some quiet time listening to Dave Matthews Band (I love them). Anyhow. I work tomorrow and Adam closes again. We'll have Sunday together. Maybe it'll be better weather so we can do something fun. Loves.
Today's Kabbalah:
Before we came down to this physical world, we each signed a contract in the endless committing to help a certain number of people. However, most of us forgot our promise and we avoid helping because it's uncomfortable. And yet, it's in those uncomfortable corners of our lives where the most love and Light is brought out of hiding.Shine today. Be there for someone (especially when it's challenging.)

Silly Sa-Sa

Adam took these picks of her and I just wanted to post them because they are so funny. It cracks me up how he had her posted up on the pillow with her bottle. And her funny little faces. Anyhow. What's up with this weather. I'm off tomorrow and was hoping to take Sadie to the park and maybe swimming...that's not going to happen. Oh well. I have some errands I need to run. Loves.
Daily Kabbalah:
Spirituality isn't what comes over us in moments of divine rapture. It's the slow burn of daily practice, being kind to others when we are grumpy, constantly looking for the lesson, thinking of what we can improve, and all those difficult challenges we face every moment.Today, keep taking baby steps towards becoming more tolerant, more communicative, and more generous. Slow and steady wins the race.

Monday

Just wanted to post some cute pics of Sadie. They are from last week, but I like them so...Not much to report. Adam and I both worked today, Sadie went to daycare. She was very funny this evening during dinner. She was not having her squash and corn. She much prefers fruit! Anyhow. I have been getting her to drink from a sippy cup. Also, she will sometimes eat small pieces of cheerios. She likes to make a mess first, then ea them. If you try to put the pieces in her mouth she gags (even if you put it on the tip of her tongue). When she does it, it's okay. She is such a funny kid. Loves.
Today's Kabbalah:
Giving of ourselves is how we connect to God. When we get past the what's-in-it-for-me mindset, we invite clarity, peace, success and joy — and all the Creator's attributes — to flood our being.Today, share with no expectations.

Life's beachy!

So, I haven't posted in a while but I have lots of pics!! One set is from our anniversary and some other cute pics of Sadie. The other set is from our vacation this weekend! We went to the aquarium on our way to the beach. Sadie really enjoyed it. She LOVES fish. We all really enjoyed the beach too. It was great weather. Sadie is getting over her bronchitis and pink eye. We also found out that she had had thrush! I feel so terrible. We do the best we can and sometimes I feel like it's not good enough. he gets sick so easily. Everybody keeps telling me it's because of daycare...but...what do you do? Anyhow, luckily, she is a quick healer. I am pretty much over my small cold. Adam, however, has pink eye and may have strep throat. He is going to the doctor tomorrow to find out about both. He has been using the extra eye drops from Sadie, but his eyes look terrible. Anyhow, more on that later. Back to work tomorrow. Sadie is back to daycare. Enjoy the pics.

Sunny Sunday

This was a fun weekend.
Friday night Adam, Sadie and I went downtown to the first "free Friday concert" of the year (they run every Friday from May to October). It was the 6th street blues band. They're really good. We all had a fun time listening and dancing to music. Saturday I was off so Sadie, my Mom and I went to a quilt show and saw some beautiful quilts, then to Target and Old Navy to look at swim suits. Sadie and I went in the pool later and she seemed to enjoy it. Every time one of the kids was splashing around she would clap and giggle. It was so cute. Adam worked on school and then went to work on Saturday. So, Sunday we ran a couple of errands and then went over to Adam's 'rents house. We had lunch and went swimming. Sadie liked the float her Bubbe bought for her. I did have to sit her backwards in it. She kept leaning forward and planting her face into the inflated turtle! Later she took a nap and we all played "scene it". I won...! After that we came home and played and ate pizza and Adam and I organized his office (it has been kinda thrown together since we moved in). Anyhow, back to work on Monday. Friday is Adam and mine anniversary! Loves.

New look.

Hope everybody likes the new layout. I just wanted something a bit different. Anyhow, I was off today so Sadie and I had the day together! Adam closes tonight so he was here for part of the day. In the morning I went to JC Penneys and tried to find a bathing suit...hahaha. I also tried sears...no luck. I guess I am going to order one from Old Navy. Hopefully it will fit. Other than that, Sadie and I just hung out and played. We went to the playground and read books and danced and listened to music. It was a nice day. There are pictures of her in 2 different outfits. The pink overalls are from Friday, I think she looks so cute in them and her hair is so fun. The other is from today. I put a piece of peach in her mesh spoon. She made a face every time she chewed on it but she kept going back to it. It was really funny. Enjoy. Loves.

Today's Kabbalah:

Having our buttons pushed is one way to discover those traits that we need to correct. The other way that we can get a glimpse of our garbage is by looking for repetitive patterns that limit or block us. It's like the movie, "Groundhog Day," in which the same scenario occurs day after day after day.Today, look for patterns in your life that do not bring you joy.

Sweet Sadie

Today I was off so Sadie and I got to spend the day together. We had a really great time. I love, love, love when we get to have days together. I makes me feel so grateful and blessed to have a healthy happy child , a wonderful ,super hot hubby and an awesome supportive family. We ran a couple of errands and played and I took her down to the pool and she got to swim a bit. I had bought her a baby float, but the water was still pretty cold and she wanted me to hold her instead. We'll get there! My dad, Adam's parents, mama and papa and of course us...all have a pool. Other than that, not too much to report. Adam and I are going to the beach for our anniversary (Sadie too). We are going to stay 2 nights in Anna Maria Island. We will probably go to the Tampa Bay aquarium one day and hang around the town and on the beach some. I am really excited. Our actual anniversary is May 8th but we are going the 15th-17th. Anyhow, enjoy the pics of our adorable baby. Also, the ones of the quilt in Sadie's room is the quilt that my mom made. She is amazing.Loves

Today' Kabbalah:

According to Kabbalah, when you find yourself gripped by anxiety, you're thinking only about yourself. Reactive behavior distances you from your soul, so perform a sharing action. Sharing connects you back to the 99%, and automatically the Light that flows from this realm displaces your fear just as a light bulb displaces darkness from a room.Today, one way to deal with moments of fear and anxiety is to shift into sharing mode. Look for someone to help. Take an action outside yourself.

Saturday night & Sunday

The last 2 days have been busy and fun. Saturday after Adam and I got off work, we (and my mom) went to Ocala. Mama and Papa were having a party. We got to show Sadie off and see some really nice people. Sadie seemed to enjoy all of the attention. Sunday we went to the butterfly rainforest at the museum. It was the first time we had been. I was worried that Sadie would be frightened by all the butterflies but she was smiling and gigging. Henry and Adam's mom went with us. We had a great time. I was off today and Adam closes. We have just run a couple of errands and hung out. Well, Sadie is napping so I'm going to go pick up the house a bit. Loves.

Today's Kabbalah:

Whenever we reach a new threshold, ready to go to a new level of being and seeing, our old friends come out to greet us: doubts, confusion, procrastination ...There's always something to make it difficult for you to achieve the next level.Push aside your darker thoughts today. They're only trying to get you to fall.

Busy week

So, since Wednesday it's been a fast going week.
Wednesday we were off together so we took Sadie to the Hawthorne trail. We ran a while on the paved part & hiked on the "trails". It was really nice. I got a little sunburned on my shoulders. We took our garage sale jogger...Sadie was okay in it. Later we took her to her 9 month check up. She is 16 pounds and 26 1/4 inches long. She is in the 10th percentile or her height & weight. Dr. Rosi said she was developing fine, she's just petite! Other than her size Dr. Rosi was very impressed with the things he is doing. Dr. Rosi said that her pincer grasp and hand dexterity, her ability to imitate (blowing kisses, copying some of the faces we make at her, copying certain noises) & the amount of babbling and words she is saying & understanding are advanced for a 9 month old. So, I guess our "little" girl has a big brain!!
Today, I rode down to Orlando for a corporate event for work. We played silly games (egg race, wheelbarrow race...) and ate BBQ. It was fun, long, but fun. Once we got back I picked Sadie up from daycare and she & I went to Publix! Dr. Rosi said we can start giving her very small pieces of table foods (not all, certain ones). I got her this mesh spoon thing so we can put pieces of apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, etc in it and she can practice feeding herself. I tried it a bit tonight but Sadie was sleepy and grumpy this evening so I didn't push her.
Tomorrow I work and then we are doing a "movie on the lawn" night at work, after work. This is something we are doing for our residents. We've done it once before, it was really fun. Most people seemed to have a good time. Plus, who doesn't like free popcorn and drinks? Tomorrow will be a fun, full day. Saturday I work again then after, we will be going down to Ocala for a party that Mama & Papa are having. We get to eat yummy food and meet some of their friends. I am looking forward to that. Well, Adam will be home soon, so...Loves.
Daily Kabbalah:
You’re stressed. The pressure has been building up for some time now. People avoid you for fear that you will bite them. What will it be? A Valium? A temper tantrum? A little depression?
Forget the temporary solutions.
For results that are permanent, understand that the pressure is the Light coming through – trying to at least. There is something good waiting for you. You just need to trust that there is a force steering you towards what’s best, and to surrender to it.
(And try smiling today too – it helps.)

C-U-T-E!!!

Yes, Sadie is so adorable. The pics are from my mom's house this past Sunday (Easter). Tommy took some pics of Sadie and Adam took some also. I haven't gotten the ones from Tommy yet but here are the ones Adam took. They are so cute. She was in rare form. She was very silly this evening. She and I went running (well, I ran, he rode!) and every time I would speed up a bit she would kick her legs and giggle. It was making me crack up. She is so silly. Adam is at work I hope the weather won't be too bad for his drive home. I guess we are under a thunderstorm warning, a tornado watch and a flash flood advisory. Crazy. Well, Sadie's tooth is coming in slowly but surely. Wednesday she goes for her 9 month check up. I can't wait to see what she weighs and what Dr. Roi has to say about her. Well, I am going to go pick up the house. Loves to all y'all.

Today's Kabbalah:

The Light is ever-merciful, giving us endless fresh starts and countless do-overs.Today, extend that graciousness to others.

Show me them pearly whites...

Our beautiful baby has a tooth...sort of. Adam put his finger in her mouth to rub her gums and cut his finger on her tooth bud! it's little but it's there! Our little sweet monkey is growing up so very fast! Other than that not much to report. We had Passover dinner with Adam's family last night at Too Jay's. It was sooo good. The brisket was so juicy and tender. Also the latkes and matzo ball soup was awesome. Sadie was very good at dinner and didn't even cry when Adam's dad was holding her. Tonight has been laid back. Went for a walk, tried to run (we've been running) but Sadie hates our old jogger. It kinda smells like mold. She does better when she can face us. I tried to run with the travel system but those strollers are definitely not made for jogging! Anyhow. I may try and get a decent one that allows me to also use the infant car seat so she can face me. We'll see. I'm off this weekend, will probably hang around the house on Saturday, run errands. Sunday we are going to my Mom's for Easter. Sleep well everyone. Loves.
Today's Kabbalah:
It's a powerful time we live in. The best and worst in history. All this pain and misery, and yet greater numbers of people are re-evaluating and transforming like I've never seen in my life time.Make room in your heart for others today. We all need each other. That's what this time is all about.

Finally...

Yes, I am officially a blog slacker!! Things have been a bit crazy for us lately and Adam has been using the computer every evening for school (I'm not complaining, just stating fact). So, I haven't had a chance to "blog". Anyhow, everything is great Sadie is fantastic and as cute as ever. Adam is working hard and schooling it up. He's been working days a lot lately which has been nice. We've been able to have the evenings together and have some couple time. I think we were both starting to feel like ships passing in the night! Not too much excitement to report. Sadie will be 9 months old tomorrow! I can't believe it. She is growing up so fast. She is such a light in our lives. I can't imagine my life without her. Yesterday we went to Bivens arm nature park and "hiked" some trails. It was great weather and Sadie seemed to really enjoy it. After, we went to the gelato company and had super tasty gelato. My Dad and Carrie came over around 4 pm and we looked at their pics from Vancouver and Seattle. They saw a tree that was like 1000 years old! I can't wait for Adam, Sadie and I to start traveling together. We were talking about taking a vacation this summer. We may go to Chicago and visit Adam's grandparents. They haven't met Sadie yet. I think it would be cool to see all the stuff we missed last time we were there. Plus, I really want Adam's g-parents to meet our girl. Well, I am going to go enjoy my hubby (Sadie is asleep now!). Loves

P.S. Happy (belated) 1 month bday to Mr. Dylan Matthew!!!

Today's Kabbalah:

I want to share with you a useful way to deal with any challenge you may face in your life:
The Proactive Formula
1. an obstacle occurs
2. realize your reaction is the real enemy
3. shut down your reactive system and invite the Light in
4. effectively express your proactive nature
Use this three times today. Yes, it’s work. But it works.

New pics

Finally

Yes, I am finally putting a new post!! I apologize profusely to those of you who are avid blog readers. We moved, then all three of us were sick. Things have been a bit crazy. We are settled in our new, bigger place. We all love it. I'll post pics of it soon. There is still stuff we want to do but it's starting to feel like home. Sadie is doing really well. She still has a cough but we have been giving her nebulizer treatments and she is doing okay. One of the girls I work with had a baby on March 5th. She had a little boy. He is sooo cute. It's so funny to look at him so new and beautiful. It's amazing to me that only 8 months ago that was our Sadie. Adam is working hard and doing well in school. Nothing else too terribly exciting going on. Sadie is still in daycare. It's okay, not what we want but...I just keep trying to remember that it's what's meant t be happening right now. anyhow, enjoy the pics

Today's Kabbalah:

Doubt is what brings the feeling of hating oneself and hating other people.Today, remember that through certainty comes love.

Here she is.

More changes...

Sadie is doing much better, she goes back to Dr. Rosi tomorrow for her check up. She seems to feel much better. She is hardly coughing anymore and hr nose is almost dried up! Adam is doing much better too. He still has a cough and headaches, but he says he feels much better. I, of course am sick now. It feels like this cycle is never going to end! Mine seemed to just be allergies/sinus stuff. My eyes are watery, I am congested in my head but now it is going to my chest. Hopefully I'll be feeling better soon because we have a big weekend ahead of us! We are moving! Sounds exciting? Well, we're only moving to another apartment in the same community! We live in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom. It's been okay for a while (we've been here a year now). But, with Adam in school and Sadie getting bigger we just need more space. We are moving to a 3/2. Adam will have an office, Sadie will have her room and Adam and I will have the Master bedroom to just us now (it has been doubling as Adam's office). I am really excited to be getting a bigger apartment. It's on the third floor (no, we're not crazy). Actually, it'll be nice because we won't have anyone above us and we get vaulted ceilings. I have started packing stuff up. I have done half of Sadie's room, all of our books (about 25 boxes), our DVD's and some of our "nick-nack" decorative stuff. Adam works days tomorrow so if I'm up for it, we will move some of the stuff over there tomorrow evening. He brought me boxes from his job but I have already packed them all full! He'll be bringing more tonight. Moving is such a hassle, but I am so excited and once it's all done it'll be great! Anyhow, enjoy the pics of Sadie. Loves.

Today's Kabbalah:

Many times we want to give conditionally and yet expect others to give us unconditionally. The universe doesn't work that way. When we calculate our sharing, we end up with people who do the same to us.Find one way your sharing is limited. Let go of your expectations and just give. That's how you can attract more unconditional people into your life.

Poor sick Sadie

So, Sadie has had a cough and "cold" for several weeks now. We have been doing everything Dr. Rosi told us to. Lift the head of her bed up, humidifier in her room, nasal saline. Nothing has really seemed to help. On top of it all she has been having trouble with constipation. We finally were able to get into to see Dr. Rosi today. I had to work but Adam closes tonight so he took her. Well...Sadie has bronchitis, an ear infection and pink eye! I told Adam DCF will probably be knocking at our door soon! Dr. Rosi said Sadie couldn't go to school the rest of today or tomorrow. I had to leave work early because Adam couldn't get off of work. Luckily I'm already off tomorrow. Sadie is now on amoxicillin (for her ears), py...something (for her eyes) and she has to take albuterol through a nebulizer every 4 hours (for her lungs). I feel so terrible for her. Also, Dr. Rosi said we can giver her half a cap of miralax for constipation, since prunes don't seem to work. She will go back in a week for a recheck. Adam says she weighs 13.75 pounds, almost 14!!! At first she didn't mind the nebulizer treatments, now when she has to do it, she screams. The good thing about that is that she's inhaling lots of good medicine! Tomorrow I'm off so I'll be able to be with her. Other than that craziness, everything with us is good. Adam has a cold again. I feel bad for him too. He needs to rest but he is only 1 of 2 key holders. He has to be at work.Tomorrow Adam's brother Ross and his girlfriend Carolina are supposed to come over for dinner. I hope Sadie will get lots of good rest and be ready for a couple of visitors! Well, Sadie is all bundled and sleeping in her nice warm, cozy crib so I'm going to go relax! Loves.
Today's Kabbalah:
When something triggers a reaction within you, it's almost impossible not to react. Simply telling you not to react is not always enough motivation. But thinking about cause and effect usually does the trick.Today, when you are about to indulge in some reactive behavior, think about how you will feel five minutes, five days, or five months down the road. Learn to see the future in the present moment, and you will have the impetus you need to change your behavior here and now.

Friday and Saturday

Oh, St. Valentine...

Well, I actually have fun stuff to blog about! Friday night we went to see Less than Jake at the Venue with Kristin and Benny. We all had so much fun. There were 2 other bands before LTJ. I can't remember their names. The first one was really good, the 2nd was okay, all their songs sounded similar. LTJ was awesome...as usual. I bounced and sang and had a great time. We didn't get home until after 1 am. Sadie stayed at my Mom's house Friday night. My mom said she was fine, up a few times at night. Yesterday we went out to Williston ad picked Sadie up, then we ran errands and watched movies. It was good, for a rainy day. Today we cleaned house and just hung out. We had lunch with Adam's mom and brother Henry at Perkins. After that we went to Macy's. They were having big sales at the mall and there were some outfits for Sadie I wanted (since they were on sale!). I got her some really cute stuff. Sadie was really sleepy, so we went home after that. She was up several times last night. She was coughing a lot too. We thought maybe her gums were bothering her so we gave her a half dose of Tylenol but she still woke up a few times after that. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what she needed. She wasn't wet, hungry and her gums weren't bothering her. She didn't have a fever so... Today she has been pretty fussy too. Then, it occurred to me that last week I started using regular milk in my cereal again (as opposed to soy). I am now wondering if that may be the problem. I had been thinking she was over that by now, but now I'm not so sure. I got more soy milk at the store tonight. I'll start using that again and see if she seems to feel better in the next few days. I hope so. I feel so bad for her. Adam closes tomorrow night so he is going to call Dr. Rosi tomorrow about her cough, it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Now, she'll be coughing for a while ad then she'll almost gag. She's done it a couple of times now. It tears my heart up. I hope that she gets over her cough soon. Anyhow, it's back to work for both of us tomorrow. Sadie's daycare is closed for president's day, so she will stay at Adam's parents' house in the afternoon until I get off work. Hopefully she'll get better sleep tonight. Sleep well everyone. Loves.

Daily Kabbalah:

Jealousy is a happiness destroyer. Our own. It softens our focus on what we have. And lack of appreciation is synonymous with lack of happiness.Walk into your life today as if it were the first time. Look around yourself. What do you love about what you see?
