Week of baby

gall stones hurt!

Sadie is so cute!
So, since a few days after I had Sadie I have periodically had these really bad stomach pains. When it first started I thought it had something to do with being engorged (my back was also hurting) so I just didn't worry too much. Since then it's happened about every 3 weeks or so. I went and saw a doctor, who told me it was probably gas or heartburn. He rpescribed me medication that I wasn't even supposed to be taking (it is very dangerous for breastfed infants) and I felt a bit aggrevated because no, I am not a doctor but I do know the difference between gas, heartburn and what I've been experiencing. So, I just kind of have ben trying to manage it the best I can. Well, Friday night it was the worst it's ever been. By the time Adam got home from work at 11:30 pm I was balled up on the couch and could barely move without it hurting. He finally convinced me to go to the emergency room. At the ER they drew my blood, took my vitals and did an ultrasound on my belly. Eventually the doctor came back and told me I have several large gall stones and biliary colic. He told me that sometimes a shift in hormones (like from pregnancy and childbirth) can cause your body to start making the stones. Once it starts it will keep making them. He told me I would have to have my gall bladder removed. So, I have been referred to a surgeon (Jan 21) and will see what they have to say. I would like to see if there is any other option besides surgery, however, everything I've read so far says it's better to just go ahead with the surgery. It is laproscopic, so they don't have to "open " me up. Plus, the recovery time will be MUCH faster.
Other than that things are going really well for all of us. Adam is working hard and doing well in school, as always. I'm working, Sadie is growing and doing well. She has her 6 month check up on Thursday. She has had a bit of diarrhea that past day and a half. I think it may be related to one of the new solids she has been introduced to. I have been off today and have only nursed her. No solids, to see if that will help any. I hope that everyone is well. Peace.
