Happy fall y'all.

After many long weeks of waiting 41 and a half, but who's counting!), our beautiful new daughter is finally here! She arrived on October 5th at 6:44 pm. We decided on the name Sophie Rae. Not my first (or second) pick, but it is pretty darn cute and growing on me. Sophie just adds to the fun and madness around our house and of course to the all the love. Sadie loves being a big sister so far & is a big help. I have really enjoyed being off work and able to spend more time with Sadie and of course to get to know Sophie. We all think that Sophie looks a lot like Adam, although I think she will have blue eyes like Sadie and I. Sophie seems to be a similar baby as Sadie was, although a bit more fussy.

Sadie is doing well in school and enjoying kindergarten. I can't believe that Thanksgiving is in a couple of weeks and winter break is right around the corner. Hanukkah starts the day after Thanksgiving, so we are all getting ready for that and trying to decide what to get Adam's family. We have also been talking about what to get Sadie for Hanukkah and Christmas. She hasn't really asked for anything big. She loves to do arts and crafts so maybe a bunch of that type of stuff.

We have had some changes in the house, as well. With Sophie being here and us in a 2 bedroom house, space is getting a little cramped. We switched bedrooms with Sadie and put her in the upstairs "master" bedroom and we are in her old room. Truth be told the bedrooms are pretty much the same size but we no longer have an en suite bathroom (we had to say bye bye to our double sinks). Sophie is in our (large walk in) closet and we have made that a nice little space for her. So far, the switch is working out better than we thought. I'll post some pics soon.

Well, the kids are in bed and I have a hot chocolate and an episode of modern family calling my name :-)

Sadie is 5!!!

Our little girly-poo turned 5 last week! I can't believe it. To celebrate this big event, we had a party for her at Bouncin' Big in Newberry. She had a great time, had lots of people come to celebrate and got some fun presents. It seems like the last 5 years have gone by in a flash, I just can't believe she is 5 and starting kindergarten in a month.

A few days after her birthday, she had her tonsils and adenoids taken out. About a month ago we took her to an ENT doctor to be evaluated for her questionable sleep apnea. She had a sleep study done and has "severe" obstructive sleep apnea. She had an average 67 apnic (not breathing) events per hour!!! The doctor told us that the first thing they do for kids with sleep apnea is remove the tonsils and adenoids, so that's what we did. This past Tuesday (the 9th) she went in for surgery. She stayed 1 night in the hospital and then was released. The last few days have been challenging for us, with her in pain and us trying to encourage her to drink as much as possible. It's terrible when there's nothing you can do to take your child's pain and discomfort away. I know she will begin to feel better over then next week or so and, in the long run, this surgery will better her quality of life.

Since I've been home with her this week and we've been stuck in the house, I have been cleaning and organizing. Putting all of those pregnancy, nesting hormones to work. I took an old shelf and made Sadie a costume closet, I hung pictures and begun to get our master closet (aka the new baby's room) ready. I haven't done any decorating for the new baby but I am reorganizing everything so the baby has room. We have been so lucky to be able to borrow things (like the cradle that is now in the "baby's room") and have been given hand-me downs. Hard to believe in about 2 months we will have another beautiful daughter. Life really is good.

Spring is sprunging!!

All kinds of fun things have been going on at the Shugan house lately. e most important being that we are expecting!! Adam, Sadie and I are all very excited and can't wait to meet the new member of out family.
We took Sadie to this place in Newberry called "bouncing big". It's basically a huge warehouse full of bounce houses, inflatable obstacle courses, slides, etc and they even let adults bounce!! I didn't get I get to bouncing but I did get to do the inflatable obstacle course, plus I had fun watching. Sadie has also been enjoying playing "beauty shop" with me. She does my hair and we bought her some dollar store make up and she makes me "pretty".
At work, I got to be involved in another craniotomy. This time it was a pediatric patient and I was a lot more involved in the monitoring set up and got to see a lot more this time. Very cool!
This past Sunday we went to the Jacksonville Zoo. Adam and I had never been there before and we thought it would be something Sadie would really enjoy. We saw all the animals and rode the train and Sadie even got to play on a rope spider web. She said her favorite animal was the zebra.
Stay tuned for more baby and Shugan news...

All kinds of things have been going on in the Shugan house the last few months. Sadie is getting so big, and yet to see her asleep she is still like a little baby. Can't believe she will be 5 in a few months!! Sadie is doing really well in her tap and ballet classes and is excited about her upcoming recital (in June).

Adam is working hard (no change there) and trying to have fun when he can. Last week we got some bad news about his car. We found out there was about $2500 worth of work needing to be done. As it is a 2001 with 165k miles, we decided maybe it was time for a new car. So...Adam got a 2010 Honda Accord with low miles, and it looks brand new. We are both really happy with it. Another new addition to the Shugan household is a new (reclining) couch. It's light brown microfiber and very comfy to lounge in. It was VERY difficult and heavy to move though.

We found out one of Adam's Aunts is getting married so we are looking forward to a trip to Chicago in May. Also, my Dad and Carrie gave us a long weekend vacation for Christmas to take when it warms up. The trip is to Perry's resort in Daytona beach, so we are planning that for

Closing the gap.

I am back again & still trying to catch everyone up on all the photos. I have also decided that I need a phone with a better camera!! At any rate, here is the latest pic updates. I will give a description foe each...enjoy...

1. Sadie getting her Jedi training during the "light up Ocala" festivities. She and Adam were having fun playing with those light sabers. Thanks Papa!

2. Sadie and I snuggling (waiting for the boys to bring back the light sabers). I love that little smile, it says Adam all over the place!

 3. Sadie being silly at lunch one day when we were out running errands. This kid has such a silly sense of humor.I love her little silly personality.
 4. This is from when we went to the Florida natural history museum. They were/are having an exhibit nature and conservation and it was explained & presented through videos and pictures from the "peanuts" comic strip. Sadie was a little bored, but she had fun in the other exhibits. We actually go to the museum quite a bit and she always has fun.
 5. I just like this pic because it shows what a little lady Sadie is. Her fluffy dress, pink boots & legs crossed. such a little lady.
 6. This is just from one of the times the we were playing outside and throwing the ball around. We were just enjoying the outside.
 7. This was from Thanksgiving (actually the only pic I took). Sadie and Jerilyn were outside at Dad's house coloring with sidewalk chalk and having a ball). It was a smaller, but great Thanksgiving this year. One of my favorite holidays.
8. Again, just a pretty princess picture. Love that little silly monkey.

I will post more cute pics very soon!!!
