Sunday at Mama and Papa's

Today was a long day. We started early, 6:30 am, and put some of our stuff out for the yard sale at our community. We tried to make some cash, but only made $10. I sold a pooh bear carrier and Adam sold his old computer speakers. That's okay I guess. We finished up around 11:30 am and drove down to Ocala to see Mama and Papa. Sadie did okay for most of the ride there. She got fussy when we were on I-75 close to the Ocala exit. She cried and gave me the sad face until we got there. She seemed to have a good time getting lots of cuddles and kisses from Mama. Unfortunately Papa was feeling a bit "under the weather" so he got to admire her from afar. Next time Sadie will have to get extra Papa kisses! Sadie's tummy has been bothering her. It seems like every time she eats she gets very bad gas and starts screaming. She'll pull her little legs up to her tummy and squinch her face up and the shoot the out straight as a board and cry. I feel so bad for her. I don't have any other kids so I don't know what is normal, but this doesn't seem normal. Last night and today have been the worst I've seen her. She was "climbing" up my chest. We go to the pediatrician on Tuesday so I am going to ask her about it. Adam was doing some research about gassy babies online and we think she may have lactose overload. She has all of the symptoms and I have milk oversupply, which is the main cause. Basically what it is, is when she is drinking breast milk she is getting too much of the fore milk and not enough hind milk. My body has a strong milk letdown reflex and is causing my milk to be imbalanced, so her tummy gets full from fore milk before she gets the fatty hind milk and that is causing a lactose overload. This causes her to have excessive gas, bloating, watery poos, etc. The really crappy part is that these babies that have this get gas relief from eating again (which is why she farts and poops a lot while she is eating) and causes the same thing to happen, creating a cycle. I was hoping that since she gets a lot of pumped breast milk that it would resolve itself, but, because my milk may be "imbalanced" the same thing happens. We don't know if this is truly what is going on, but it seems like the most likely scenario. I know that babies can be fussy, that's okay. I just (and I'm not the only one) feel like she shouldn't have to have such a hard time eating. Anyhow. We'll ,maybe get some answers on Tuesday. It's 9pm now and I'm going to go watch Family Guy!! Loves to ya!

Sounds like you had a good visit. I am sure MaMa and PaPa were glad to see all three of you. I am sorry that Sadie is still having tummy trouble. I am sure that Dr. Fortunato will be able figure it out.

Love,
