So, I should've posted these earlier this week when we got back, but it has been non stop stuff every evening and work during the day! We had a fantastic trip...
Thursday- Flew out of Jacksonville airport, great flight. Sadie fussed just a little bit on the way up (her ears I'm sure) and during landing. Other than that she was great. Got into O'Hare airport and picked up our rental car (very nice Nissan Maxima!) and went to Adam's Grandparents' house. Got unloaded and Sadie napped and we just hung out. Went to bed early that night!
Friday- Adam's GP's took us to the Kohl Children's museum in Glenview Illinois. It's like a 10-15 minute drive from where they live. It was SO much fun. Some of the stuff Sadie was still a bit too little for, but she (and we) had a blast anyways. There is like several different sections set up there. A mini dominick's (like Publix) where they can pretend to shop or be a cashier or bagger. Sadie liked putting the stuff in the cart. They had a mini"daycare" where kids can "take care" of babies (dolls). Sadie wasn't sure about the dolls she kept poking it in the eye! There's a "body" section and a pet vet section, a music section, where Sadie got to play different types of music makers. We had such a great time. I want to take her back there next year when she's running around. After that we went into the Glenview town center (it's like a way better version of Tioga) and had lunch. Later Adam, Sadie and I went to the Golf Mill mall and walked around. After Sadie went to bed Adam and I saw a movie in Glenview (Adam's GP's stayed with Sadie).
Saturday-We finally went downtown and to the Shedd Aquarium. Sadie has been to the Tampa Aquarium and Sea World and LOVES fish. It was a great Aquarium. We walked around and showed Sadie everything. We all dressed up like penguins in the "polar north" section and Sadie got to slide down the "habitat" area slide. We noticed it was SUPER crazy downtown (more than usual) and found out as we were walking around that U2 was playing at Soldier field right next door! We stood and listed for a bit. After that we walked around downtown, went into some of the shops. We sort of found this great little park in the center of all this craziness. We took Sadie in and she got to swing and slide. It was really cool. By the time we got back to Adam's GP's we were exhausted. We put Sadie down and weren't far behind!
Sunday-We decided to go to Navy pier and walk around down there. It was alright. The weather was awesome while we were there so it worked out. We didn't do any of the rides or anything but it was nice to walk around. We decided to try and find a good pizza place so we ended up walking about 10 or so blocks back into downtown and ate some delicious pizza at Pizza Duo. Super yummy deep dish pizza! Luckily we walked it off going back to Navy Pier (since that's where the car was!). Later we went home and had a nice family dinner.
Monday we flew home. Also a great flight!
I am so happy we got to go to Chicago, it was great to see Adam's GP's again and I am thrilled they got to meet Sadie. We will definitely be going back again soon!
Today Adam and I both worked. Mama and Papa came up here and sat with Sadie for us. Tomorrow My dad and Carrie are coming over to visit and then in the evening we are going out to dinner with Adam's family for his brother Ross's birthday (21st!). Adam's Bday is on Wednesday (so is his bro Henry's!-13 years to the day!). Also, Sadie starts her new Daycare on Monday...which we are ecstatic about. I hope everything works out since the other place ended up being not so great. If you haven't heard the story and want to know just call me. It's a long story and I think everyone that reads this has already heard it!
So, we're starting another busy week. All I can say is I love my life and thank God for my hubby and daughter and my family and friends.
Today's Kabbalah:
Unlike most foods, the longer you boil an egg, the harder it gets. Perfect analogy for us. The longer we hold on to what we think is "the right way" the harder our hearts become and the more we close ourselves off to opportunity.
Today, let go of your cherished opinions. Make room for a different perspective. When you do that, you get more than you ever thought was possible.
Don't be an egghead!!
